Carlos Alcaraz made a successful start at the ATP Finals. After defeating Alex de Minaur 7-6, 6-2, the Spaniard announced his tournament goals during an on-court interview after his match.

He stated: "As you said and as everyone knows, I am fighting not only for the trophy, but also for the world number 1 spot, so I am really satisfied with my performance today.

I focused on all my goals against an opponent like Alex, who is really difficult to face. I am happy to have gotten my first win and I am looking forward to what comes next.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
