Djokovic after his victory: "I feel at home here!"
Novak Djokovic seems immortal. At 38 years old, the Serbian player has claimed a new title on the ATP tour, his second this season and the 101st of his career.
Facing Lorenzo Musetti in the final, "Nole" delivered an epic match: 2 hours and 59 minutes of play and a victory in 3 sets (4-6, 6-3, 7-5). A stunning performance he commented on during the trophy ceremony:
"An incredible battle, 3 hours of play, a very tough, very physical match. Musetti played really well, congratulations to him. I know how hard it is to lose, but your level was truly impressive today. He was already incredible on clay but he is just as good on hard court now.
As for me, I am really proud, proud to have managed to come back in this match. I feel at home here, I love it. Thank you to the Greek people for their support of sport. Thank you all for coming. What an incredible tournament! My entire inner circle is here: my family, my friends are here, it's special for me.
Finally, congratulations to the organizers, it was a real challenge to organize this event in such a short time. People don't realize it. So congratulations to everyone!"
Thus, Novak Djokovic has just added another page to his already exceptional story and has already left his mark on a country where he has recently settled.
