United Cup: France beat Switzerland in their opening match
Start of the second day of competition at the United Cup.
After the inaugural successes of Kazakhstan and China, it's time for a 100% European duel between France and Switzerland.
This match features the presence of Belinda Bencic, who missed several months of competition due to pregnancy.
It was Bencic who got the ball rolling. Facing Chloé Paquet, the former world No. 4 didn't waste any time, winning 6-3, 6-1.
Ugo Humbert then brought Les Bleus level. Facing Dominic Stricker, always a difficult opponent, the finalist of the last Rolex Paris Masters made the difference (6-3, 7-5).
In the decisive doubles match, the two teams were forced to settle.
The Belinda Bencic/Dominic Stricker pair came out on top against Elixane Lechemia and Edouard Roger-Vasselin (6-1, 7-6).
Switzerland are well placed to qualify, while France face Italy in their second group match.
