Bencic relishes being back on the circuit after her pregnancy: "I couldn't wait to be back".
Switzerland got the better of France at the United Cup.
Belinda Bencic made a major contribution to this success, winning the singles against Chloé Paquet and then the mixed doubles alongside Dominic Stricker.
Formerly ranked 4th in the world, the Swiss player is gradually regaining her sensations after missing last season due to a happy event.
Down to 487th in the world, the 2021 Tokyo Olympic gold medallist is savouring her successful return to the main circuit.
"I was looking forward to being back, of course. I was a little nervous at the start of the match, but I'm glad I was able to accept that and fight my way back onto the court.
As the match progressed, I managed to calm myself down and concentrate more on my tennis. I didn't expect to be back so soon.
It was really important to win this match, and it was a pleasure to play with Dominic - it's easy when he's serving.
I just need to be at the net, without needing to touch the ball. It's fun to play with him and we had a real energy on court," Bencic told the United Cup website.
"I have immense respect for all players who have become mothers. A woman has to go through a lot during pregnancy, and the body changes.
Everything is amazing, we couldn't be happier right now. We're parents now, our lives have changed, and for the better.
We're very happy with Bella. She's here, we've survived the trip to Australia," concluded the 27-year-old when discussing her first months as a mother.
