Game Over in Jeddah: The Next Gen Finals Already Leaves Saudi Arabia
After only three editions, Saudi Arabia will no longer host the Next Gen Finals. The ATP is already looking for a new destination for 2026, marking the premature end of a partnership that was supposed to last until 2027.
While Saudi Arabia seems to be sweeping up everything in recent years in the world of tennis and imposing a certain hold on the ATP and WTA tours, the Gulf country has just lost one of its anchor points.
According to reports from The National, the Next Gen Finals, held in the city of Jeddah since 2023, will conclude with a final edition on Saudi soil in December (from the 17th to the 21st), before seeking a new host city.
The contract that bound the ATP and the Saudi Tennis Federation, however, was set to run until 2027.
This year, the event will be without its main headline act: Joao Fonseca, the leader of the Next Gen Race and defending champion, has ended his season after the Rolex Paris Masters.
The Next Gen Finals, created in 2017, had seven editions in Milan before moving to Saudi Arabia.
