I want to arrive in form in Australia": Sinner explains his Davis Cup withdrawal

Jannik Sinner is skipping the Davis Cup this year, prioritizing his preparation for Australia. "These last two years, I wasn't at my best because of the schedule," confided the Italian champion.
For the defense of their Davis Cup title, Italy will have to do without Jannik Sinner. After two Silver Salad Bowls won in 2023 and 2024, the world No. 2 has decided to miss the finals this year.
Before his opening match in Vienna, Sinner held a press conference this Monday. He explained this withdrawal:
"I've won the Davis Cup twice. My team and I made this decision because the season is very long at the end of the year and I need an extra week of rest to resume training earlier.
The goal is to arrive in form in Australia. These last two years, due to lack of time, I wasn't really at my best, so we made this decision. We'll see how it goes.
