In 2023, Gaël Monfils returned to success on the ATP tour by winning the Stockholm tournament. At 37 years old and after falling to 394th in the world rankings just months earlier, the Parisian experienced a dream week in Sweden to mark his return to the top 100.
He defeated Fucsovics, Misolic, Mannarino, Djere and qualifier Pavel Kotov in the final (4-6, 7-6, 6-3).
A twelfth career title, his first since 2022, which he dedicated to the "three women in his life" during his speech:
"What a special week for me in front of my three women. My mother, thank you. My wife Elina (Svitolina). Thank you. And finally, my daughter Skaï who's watching me on TV. This is the first time I've won a title as a father. It's very special.
