Hamad Medjedovic is one of those players who, despite having the required ranking to compete in the Australian Open qualifiers, made the choice not to travel to Melbourne.
Being ranked 112th in the world, he would have been seeded for the tournament. Instead, he decided to play at the Oeiras Challenger this week, where he will play a semi-final on Friday.
The Serb explains: "It's mainly for the points and because it's a long trip. But I'm not sure I'll win any points here.
At the moment, I prefer ATP points to money. We want to reach the top 100 as soon as possible."
