Fritz withdraws from Acapulco with abdominal injury

Taylor Fritz is not having the best of starts to the season. The world No. 4, beaten in the 3rd round of the Australian Open and then in the quarter-finals in Dallas and Delray Beach, has announced his withdrawal from the ATP 500 Acapulco, which gets underway on Monday.
On his Instagram account, Fritz revealed that he had been playing for several weeks with an abdominal injury, the discomfort of which had become too great :
"Very sad to have to withdraw from this year's Acapulco tournament. I've been suffering from an abdominal injury since the week before the Dallas tournament.
I played through the injury in the hope that it would heal. Many parts of my body were pain-free and still are.
It got to the point where it didn't get any better. It's frustrating to play and know that I can't be at 100%, that I avoid certain shots or play them differently so as not to feel pain.
Acapulco has always been one of my favorite tournaments and I'm really sorry about it. I hope this week's rest will enable me to get back to 100%."
