Stats - Fonseca, one of the top 10 youngest ATP Tour finalists since 2000

João Fonseca's meteoric rise continues. The 18-year-old Brazilian continues to impress.
Quarter-finalist at last year's ATP 500 tournament in Rio, Fonseca won the Next Gen ATP Finals at the end of 2024, before winning his first Grand Slam match against Andrey Rublev at the Australian Open earlier this season.
João Fonseca made his way through to the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Buenos Aires, eliminating Etcheverry, Coria, Navone and Djere along the way.
He will now face Francisco Cerundolo for his first title on clay on the main tour.
In fact, at 18 years and 5 months, Fonseca is one of the top 10 youngest players ever to reach an ATP Tour final.
He is ahead of Roger Federer, who reached the final in Marseille in 2000 at the age of 18 years and 6 months. The ranking is dominated by Rafael Nadal, who was 17 years and 7 months old when he reached the final in Auckland in 2004.
Other big names on the list include Kei Nishikori (18 years and 1 month at Delray Beach in 2008), Carlos Alcaraz (18 years and 2 months at Umag in 2021), Richard Gasquet (18 years and 3 months at Metz in 2004) and Andy Murray (18 years and 4 months at Bangkok in 2005).
