Alcaraz: "I know that to reach the number 1 spot, you have to work hard".

Carlos Alcaraz has big ambitions for the 2025 season. After losing to Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, the Spaniard, ranked number 3 in the world, reacted perfectly by winning his first indoor tournament in Rotterdam in recent days, beating Alex De Minaur in the final.
The 21-year-old is now in Qatar for next week's ATP 500 tournament in Doha.
Ahead of his scheduled opener against Marin CIlic, Alcaraz took stock of his objectives for the 2025 season in an interview granted to the media outlet Sport in the last few hours.
"In tennis, I think it's good to change scenery and get to know new tournaments.
The South American tour is a great tour for which I have a lot of affection, and I wouldn't rule out doing it again in the future, but sometimes it's perhaps necessary to make changes.
What's more, I want to gain more experience in indoor tournaments. So far, it's gone very well. I'm happy with this decision.
It's a very tough tournament here. There are a lot of top players, which shows just how big a tournament Doha is.
At the end of the day, you have to compete with the best to win. The number 1 spot in the world is always a goal.
I'm going to try to get better at what I do, and I know that to get there you have to work hard, so I'm going to focus on that.
That's my goal and whether Jannik (Sinner) is there or not, it's not going to change. I said that my main objective for the season was to win the Australian Open for the first time.
I didn't succeed, but now I'm going to do everything I can to get at least one Grand Slam and fight to win the Masters 1000.
But at the end of the day, nothing is to be taken lightly and all tournaments are important. I want to win as many as possible," says Alcaraz.
