Halys beats Wawrinka to qualify for the Doha tournament
Quentin Halys has qualified for the ATP 500 tournament in Doha. In the first qualifying round, the Frenchman was drawn against Qatari wild-card Mubarak Shannan Zayid.
Thanks to his 6-4, 6-2 victory, he qualified for the final qualifying round.
Facing Stan Wawrinka on Sunday, Halys had to battle hard, but came through to win 7-6, 1-6, 6-3.
The match was interrupted twice by rain, notably after he lost the second set.
This hour-long interruption enabled him to regain his composure and come back stronger in the third set, where he broke from the outset.
A break which he held to the end and which enables him to play in the main draw in Doha.
