ATP 500 Rio draw: Zverev and Cerundolo in the same draw, Fonseca to start against Muller
The ATP 500 Rio, which kicks off on Monday, has unveiled its main draw for this 2025 edition.
Alexander Zverev is the tournament's number 1 seed and will start against Yunchaokete Bu, ranked 69th in the world. He could face Nicolas Jarry in the quarter-finals and then meet Francisco Cerundolo in the semi-finals.
In the bottom half of the draw, Lorenzo Musetti finds himself seeded n°2 after the withdrawal of Holger Rune.
The Italian, who withdrew yesterday from his quarter-final in Buenos Aires after suffering a calf injury, will play his 1st round match against a qualifier.
Joao Fonseca, who reached the semi-finals in Buenos Aires, will make his debut in front of his home crowd against Alexandre Müller. And if he wins, he could meet Tomas Etcheverry, whom he beat this week in Argentina, in the 2nd round.
Finally, there are several interesting duels between clay-court specialists in the 1st round: Navone-Carballes Baena, Diaz Acosta-Monteiro, Munar-Seyboth Wild and Martinez-Davidovich Fokina.
