Gaudenzi defends Sinner and Alcaraz: "The Big 3 dominated the tour by a large margin and nobody said anything!"

Gaudenzi defends Sinner and Alcaraz: The Big 3 dominated the tour by a large margin and nobody said anything!

Andrea Gaudenzi, the head of Italian tennis, has commented on the total domination of Alcaraz and Sinner on the ATP tour.

In an interview relayed by our colleagues at Tennis World Italia, the 52-year-old man responded regarding a potential weariness concerning the successive victories of Sinner and Alcaraz in major tournaments.

"Let's not joke. For years, it was Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal who dominated it, but nobody ever said anything. Novak is just starting to exit the equation and Fonseca is gradually rising. Furthermore, the Vacherot fairy tale in Shanghai also showed that tennis always knows how to renew itself."

For the record, the Italian and the Spaniard have won 17 of the last 18 tournaments they have played together, but also the last 8 Grand Slams (since the Australian Open 2024).

What is there to defend? I distinctly remember people saying they wish someone else would step up and challenge the Big 3. It was a relief for me when Wawrinka had his short time competing with and winning majors and the same for Murray. Unfortunately neither was consistent at the highest level.
And here we are again, anticipating the next "up and coming" players.
