30 wins, 4 titles, 6 top 10 victories: Bublik's exceptional second half of the season
Alexander Bublik is writing Kazakh tennis history! In just a few months, he has transformed his season, crushed top 10 players, and reached his first Masters 1000 semifinal. A look back at an absolutely incredible second half of the year.
Since Roland-Garros, Bublik has strung together incredible performances: 30 wins in 37 matches, 4 titles (Halle, Hangzhou, Kitzbühel, and Gstaad), 6 victories against top 10 players (Rublev in Madrid, De Minaur and Draper at Roland-Garros, Sinner in Halle, Fritz and De Minaur in Paris), and a first Grand Slam quarterfinal (Roland-Garros).
Now qualified for his first Masters 1000 semifinal, the player has achieved a rare feat for a player from his continent. Indeed, since 1990, only Kei Nishikori (2014) had managed to string together so many victories against the top 10 in a single season combining Grand Slams and Masters 1000. Bublik thus becomes the second Asian player to enter this very exclusive club, and the first Kazakh to reach a Masters 1000 semifinal.
But that's not all, because in 2025, only Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Bublik have scored wins against the Top 5 on three different surfaces. A striking proof that his game adapts and surprises all his opponents.
For a spot in the final, Bublik will now face Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime. A player he has faced 5 times on the tour, most recently in Dubai last February (first-round loss: 7-6, 6-7, 6-3).
