Sinner on a Mission in Vienna: 20 Consecutive Indoor Wins and a New Final!
Nothing works for Alex de Minaur: against Jannik Sinner, history repeats itself. The Italian once again imposed his rule in the Vienna semifinals, securing his 12th consecutive victory against the Australian and a spot in the final.
Since the beginning of the week in Vienna, Jannik Sinner has been ruthless against his opponents. Altmaier, Cobolli, and Bublik all fell to the world No. 2, who advanced to the semifinals with immense confidence.
Facing him, Alex de Minaur had benefited from a rather favorable draw (Rodionov and Misolic), before defeating Matteo Berrettini in the quarterfinals. But against his nemesis on the tour (11 losses in as many matches against Sinner), the Australian knew a major feat would be necessary.
And it wasn't to be this time, as Sinner once again dominated the world No. 7, winning 6-3, 6-4 in 1 hour and 27 minutes. Another controlled match for the Italian, who thus extends his streak to a 20th consecutive indoor victory and reaches his 8th final of the year.
In the final tomorrow, he will aim for a second title in the Austrian capital, two years after the first. He will face either Alexander Zverev or Lorenzo Musetti.
