Petchey and Courier Understand Djokovic's Absence from the Masters

Novak Djokovic's decision to skip the 2025 ATP Finals is causing quite a stir.

While some fans are crying scandal, Mark Petchey and Jim Courier are rising to the Serb's defense, highlighting physical and strategic reasons.

Indeed, for Petchey, former coach of Emma Raducanu, there is no controversy. "Yes, no problem at all. He has given everything to this sport. If he feels the need, it's a crucial break for him," he stated on Tennis Channel, insisting that the break will allow Djokovic to recover before the Australian Open, which is pushed back by a week this year.

For his part, Courier also emphasizes the complexity behind the scenes: injuries, family responsibilities, and a tight schedule: "We are unaware of many factors. But what is certain is that Djokovic has earned his place in the tournament, but also the right to withdraw whenever he wishes."

Novak found a way to.go out on a positive without a loss and took it. Likely he would have had at least one, if not 2, losses at the Turin tournament.
