Swiatek on fans' reaction to his scandal: "It's been more positive than I imagined".
Iga Swiatek is currently in Sydney to defend Poland's colors at the United Cup.
Present at the press conference, she was asked about her doping scandal and how she felt about fans' comments on social networks.
The Pole replied: "Their reactions have been more positive than I imagined. I think most people are understanding.
Those who have read the documents and know how the system works, know that I have nothing to reproach myself for and that I had no influence on what happened.
Honestly, I can't really say what the situation is objectively because I haven't been very present on the Internet.
I'm trying to get on with my life and concentrate on other things, on preparing for the season and on tennis, because that's the best thing you can do after an affair like this.
But overall, the reaction in Poland, because that's mostly what I've read, has been pretty positive.
I really appreciate that, because even when I missed the tournaments in China and nobody knew why, it wasn't that easy.
After the news about my case came out, I was afraid that most people would turn their backs on me.
But I felt the support, and that's great. Of course there will be negative comments, and you can't avoid them.
It's something that will always follow us, no matter what happens in our lives. We're public people.
I have to accept it and I don't really care, honestly."
