Swiatek has not digested his Australian Open 2024: "It was probably the most disappointing tournament for me this year"
The 2025 tennis season is about to get off to a flying start. In mid-January, the first Grand Slam of the season kicks off at the Australian Open.
Melbourne will play host to the world's best players as they battle it out for the grail.
Semi-finalist in 2022, Iga Swiatek, then world number 1, was eliminated in the third round by Linda Noskova in 2024.
The Czech was down a set to nil before prevailing (3-6, 6-3, 6-4). The Pole still has bad memories of that match and admits to her overall disappointment at last year's Australian Open.
"Australia was probably the most disappointing tournament for me this year.
That day, against Noskova, my forehand didn't work very well.
She took advantage of that. Most Czech players play very good tennis, they can read the game very intelligently.
I expected to play better at the Australian Open. In Melbourne, I felt that my technique was falling apart because the Grand Slam was approaching and I felt the tension.
I hadn't produced enough tennis to keep going into the second week," Swiatek told Przeglad Sportowy.
