Osaka / Swiatek at Roland-Garros, the WTA match of the year!

As the year 2025 gets underway with the first United Cup matches, the WTA Awards give their final verdicts.

After a vote by the fans themselves, the award for Match of the Year on the women's circuit went to the second-round duel between Naomi Osaka and Iga Swiatek at Roland-Garros.

As a reminder, the Pole, who was the overwhelming favorite at the time, came very close to elimination against an Osaka on cloud nine. Pushed to the limit by her opponent's string of winning shots (55 throughout the match), the future winner of the tournament had to ward off a match point before prevailing in the final (7-6, 1-6, 7-5).
