"I feel very well welcomed here," Bencic states after winning the Tokyo tournament
Belinda Bencic can savor the 10th title of her career. The Swiss player confirmed that she feels comfortable in the Japanese capital.
Bencic loves playing in Tokyo. Four years after winning the Olympic Games in the Asian city, the world No. 13 won the WTA 500 edition of Tokyo after defeating Linda Noskova in the final (6-2, 6-3).
On the court after her title, the player who will be ranked 11th on Monday shared her first impressions after winning the 10th title of her career (in twenty finals played).
"First of all, I want to congratulate Linda (Noskova). You've had two great tournaments in Beijing and here in Tokyo. You are an incredible player. I am certain you will win many titles.
It was an honor to share the court with you. Congratulations to your team as well. It was great to play in front of a crowd. The last time I won here was at the Tokyo Olympics, in an empty stadium, so the atmosphere was completely different, but it was fantastic to play in front of you.
I love playing in Japan, I feel very well welcomed here, I've had very good times throughout my career, and I am very honored to be among all the legends who have won here, so I am super happy to have finally won this tournament," Bencic assured the WTA media after her title.
