Rod Laver to miss next Australian Open

Australian tennis legend Rod Laver will not be in the stands on the center court that bears his name next January.

On his X account, the 86-year-old announced that he will be unable to attend the 2025 edition of the Australian Open, without giving a reason for his absence:

"What an incredible year of tennis! And there's not much time left before the new season starts in Australia.

Unfortunately, I won't be there for the first Grand Slam of the year.

While I'm disappointed to miss this Australian Open 2025 and not be able to interact with the fans in Melbourne, I'll be watching from home and cheering on the players as they fight for glory.

I hope you'll come to Melbourne Park to enjoy a great summer of tennis!"
