Vacherot Becomes the 5th Player to Win a First ATP Title at a Masters 1000

This is a performance that will be etched in tennis history. Monegasque Valentin Vacherot achieved the feat of winning his very first ATP title at a Masters 1000 tournament. A rare occurrence that hadn't happened since Jakub Mensik and has only occurred four times since 1990.

Ranked far from the top of the world rankings before the start of the tournament (204th), the 26-year-old player carved his way to the final victory in one of the most competitive tournaments on the circuit.

"It's surreal," he shared after his triumph. And rightly so: he is only the fifth player in over three decades to accomplish such a feat.

Before him, only Roberto Carretero, Chris Woodruff, Albert Portas, and more recently Jakub Mensik had managed to claim their first ATP crown at a Masters 1000.
