No wins against the top 10 in 2025: The De Minaur paradox before the Turin Masters
Consistent, combative, and impressively self-sacrificing, Alex de Minaur has put together a solid season. But behind these 55 victories, a surprising statistic reveals his limitations against the tour's top players.
With 55 wins this year, Alex de Minaur ranks among the most consistent players of the 2025 season. The Australian has logically secured his place in the Turin Masters for the second year in a row, hoping this time to shine in the group stage.
However, De Minaur has struggled this year against members of the top 10, posting a record of eight defeats in as many matches.
The world No. 7 lost three times to Jannik Sinner, twice to Carlos Alcaraz, and then once to Andrey Rublev, Ben Shelton, and Novak Djokovic.
He thus becomes the first player since Andy Roddick in 2006 to qualify for the Masters without having won a single match against a top 10 player during the season.
