Prize money: The day Djokovic became the first to cross the $100 million mark

On June 1, 2016, thanks to his victory against Bautista Agut (3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-5) and his qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2016 French Open, Novak Djokovic became the first player in history to surpass the $100 million prize money milestone.

Although he had already broken the record for earnings in a single season in 2015 ($21,646,145 accumulated, which was more than Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and Rafael Nadal combined at that time: $21,319,559), the Serbian continued his momentum.

For comparison, Roger Federer, whose career earnings were $98,011,727 at that time, had a lead of over $16 million over Djokovic at the end of 2014.

This situation is explained by the high inflation of prize money since 2013.
