Arthur Rinderknech had not been spoiled by the Acapulco draw when he inherited Casper Ruud, the tournament's No.2 seed.

He logically lost 6-4, 6-3 in 1h37 of play, despite an opening break for the Frenchman in the first set.

Ruud will face the winner of the match between Aleksandar Vukic and Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez in the second round.

Other notable results of the Mexican evening included Tommy Paul's win over Gabriel Diallo, Ben Shelton's victory over Flavio Cobolli and Tomas Machac's victory over compatriot Jakub Mensik.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
