This Thursday, the American television network revealed its ranking of the 100 best sportsmen and women of the 21st century.

Of these 10 exceptional athletes, 6 are tennis players. Two women, Serena Williams and Venus Williams, ranked 2nd and 86th respectively.

Four men. Unsurprisingly, it's the four members of the big four who have been chosen. While Andy Murray appears in 80th place, it's more likely that Roger Federer's place will cause a few teeth to grind.

Indeed, while Nadal is 12th and Djokovic 11th, the Swiss is ranked 6th.

A choice that could get people talking!

And why not? Federer IS the reason why there is a Nadal and a Djokovic in the first place. He was the first to attain 20 grand slams giving Nadal and Djokovic a higher goal to reach.
Veronica S
Sampras didn't change or dominate the sport the way the Big 3 have.
StAdam
By that logic Sampras should be in the first place....or the guy before him.....or before.....

Out of the big 3, he didn’t have the serve rhythm of a tortoise. That alone makes him greater
StAdam
Oscar, your reason is the greatest.......lol

Much more sporting than the other two trying to disrupt your return rhythm

In addition to that, IMHO it's more than just titles, it's also about behavior in and outside the court, about example, about representing the sport with dignity, and it that respect out of the 3, Djokovic, although he has improved with age, leaves a lot to be desired; as recently as last year's Wimbledon he smashed his racket to pieces against one of the net poles in front of his kids.
VJ Raghav
Oh common, stop crying now I know it hurts. You can't digest the number 24 so keep crying.

Hey, totally agree that as far as numbers go, so far Djokovic is the most accomplished tennis player, but for me the greatest player needs more than that.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
