After her elimination from the WTA Finals, Paolini is self-critical: "Playing a match like that is unacceptable"
Beaten soundly by Qinwen Zheng in her final pool match at the WTA Finals, Jasmine Paolini has been eliminated from the event.
Despite her first win on Saturday against Elena Rybakina, the Italian ended her singles tournament (she is still entered in doubles with Sara Errani) on a negative note.
Interviewed after the match, the world No. 4 was highly critical of her level of play: "Playing a match like that is unacceptable, even if Zheng played very well. It was a bad match. I was very nervous and couldn't find any solutions.
I made a few mistakes in the first few games and then she started to serve better and better. This defeat hurts because I was a long way from her level.
Tomorrow, I'll have the opportunity to play better, and it's good to have another chance in doubles. I want to forget this match as quickly as possible."
