"After two games, they are so heavy," complains Gauff about the balls in Rome
Coco Gauff qualified for the final in Rome after playing the longest match of her career against Qinwen Zheng. In the post-match press conference, the American spoke about the difficulty of playing with the tournament's balls, especially during evening session matches.
She states: "The court was so slow throughout the match. Especially the balls after two games, they are so heavy. It was my second evening session match.
My first was in the first round (against Victoria Mboko). I played against someone who had a completely different playing style. It was complicated.
I think we both struggled to hit the ball. I think in Riyadh (where their last encounter took place), there were a bit more winners, more aggression.
Today, we both tried, but the ball was going nowhere. The final will be a bit more during the day, hopefully, it will be a bit faster."
Gauff will face Jasmine Paolini to win the title in Rome.
