Alcaraz, 11th player in history to finish two seasons as world number one
Carlos Alcaraz has become world number one again this year after a stunning 2025 season: 71 wins to 9 losses, two Grand Slams (Roland-Garros and the US Open) and six other titles. This Monday, the Spaniard begins his 51st week atop the ATP rankings.
He equals Edberg, Hewitt and Borg
He will end the year as world number one for the second time in his career, thus becoming the 11th player in history to achieve this feat. Alcaraz joins Stefan Edberg, Lleyton Hewitt and Björn Borg, three players who have never finished more than two seasons at the top of the rankings.
The absolute record belongs to Novak Djokovic, who has completed eight years as world number one, ahead of Roger Federer (6) and Pete Sampras (5).
