Alcaraz: "I did it for Rafa, to give Spain a chance of qualifying".

Le 19/11/2024 à 20h09 par Guillaume Nonque
Alcaraz: I did it for Rafa, to give Spain a chance of qualifying.

Carlos Alcaraz was relieved after beating Tallon Griekspoor to give Spain a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands in the Davis Cup quarter-finals. The stakes were twofold, since in addition to his country's elimination, defeat would also have ended the career of his team-mate and idol Rafael Nadal.

Carlos Alcaraz: "Yes, I watched Rafa's whole match (beaten by Van de Zandschulp just before). In the first set, I was on the edge of the court, and in the second, I watched from the locker room during my warm-up. I had to be focused on my match to be able to play my best tennis.

It's the Davis Cup, a very important tournament for me and for everyone. I'm trying to play at my best to win and give Spain a chance of qualifying. And... I did it for Rafa. Let's see how the doubles goes, I hope we win."
