Alcaraz: "I have the key to victory over Tsitsipas".
Carlos Alcaraz meets Stefanos Tsitsipas again this Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the French Open. It's a rematch of the clash that pitted them against each other last year at the same stage of the competition on the Paris clay court. It was a clash that failed to live up to its promise last season, with the Spaniard dominating most of the match, despite a more tightly contested 3rd set (6-2, 6-1, 7-6).
And the current world No.3 seems very confident in his ability to reproduce the same type of performance, with a similar result. He confirmed this in a press conference.
Carlos Alcaraz: "Yes, I said I had the key against Stefanos. He's never beaten me before. I've won every match we've played against each other (5 wins to 0). That's what I meant by 'having the key'.
But that doesn't mean I'll be able to play at 50%. Stefanos plays great tennis. But I know tactically what I have to do in the match. I'm not going to explain what, obviously (laughs). But I know what to do."
