Alcaraz imitates Sinner and withdraws from Basel
One decision sometimes calls for another.
A few hours after Jannik Sinner announced his withdrawal from the ATP 500 in Vienna, Carlos Alcaraz also withdrew from the tournament he was due to play that week, namely Basel.
Very critical of the incessant demands of the calendar, the Spanish champion also seems to have decided to skip some important tournaments.
The announcement is obviously a blow for the Swiss tournament, which nevertheless retains some notable headliners such as Rublev, Tsitsipas, Ruud, Rune and two-time title-holder Felix Auger-Aliassime.
