Alcaraz on Machac: "I didn't know what to do".
Carlos Alcaraz won't be facing Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters 1000.
The Spaniard was beaten in the quarter-finals by an impressive Tomas Machac.
Suffering from a series of blows, Alcaraz never really found the solution, as he clearly admitted in his press conference: "I felt like I was playing against a Top 5 player, not even a Top 10 player, no, a Top 5 player, his level was so high.
I thought he was going to give me an opportunity, a window, but he didn't do it. From the first game to the last, his level was so high. His ball speed was incredible.
I felt good, honestly, I felt good on the court, I was hitting the ball well, I was moving well. But, honestly, at one point, I didn't know what to do.
Every time he hit his forehand, it was a winning shot, or the next ball, he was going to hit another winning shot.
It was incredible, it was crazy for me. He was pushing me to the limit all the time, and I told myself I always had to put the right ball in the right place.
If I didn't, I was going to run everywhere or he was going to hit a winning shot. So I think the pressure he put on me was the key to the match."
