Alcaraz on the emotion of his coach: "I didn't see him cry".

Alcaraz on the emotion of his coach: I didn't see him cry.

Carlos Alcaraz went through all kinds of emotions, but in the end he won the title at the ATP 500 in Beijing.

Up against an excellent Jannik Sinner, the Spaniard came close to defeat, but after a battle lasting over 3 hours, the native of El Palmar finally prevailed (6-7, 6-4, 7-6).

Questioned at the press conference, Alcaraz spoke in particular about the almost astonishing tears of Juan Carlos Ferrero, his coach, at the end of the match.

Smiling, he said: "I didn't see him cry. That's a good thing to know, I suppose (smiles).

But yes, I mean it was a really special win for me, to lift this trophy in front of my team, part of my family.

It was a great moment for me. I suppose he was moved at the end because we all know what we've been through in the last month or two. It was a very difficult time on and off the pitch.

After the US Open, we talked a lot during, knowing that I had to get back to training, be stronger physically and mentally to overcome these problems.

Last month, we worked very, very hard on the court, off the court, just to be able to experience this moment again.

I'd say that's why he's become emotional.

For me, it was special. For the people around me, it's a special moment."
