Alcaraz overpowers Rinderknech to reach his 13th Grand Slam quarterfinal

Still without dropping a single set in the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open by defeating Arthur Rinderknech (7-6, 6-3, 6-4).
The Frenchman, who reached the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, put up a strong fight against the world No. 2, pushing the first set to a tiebreak. But once ahead, Alcaraz was never troubled and delivered a flurry of winners (36) to secure the win in just over two hours of play.
Solid on serve, saving both break points he faced, the Spaniard also won 85% of points behind his first serve.
A focused and disciplined Alcaraz will now face Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals. The two players have met twice this season, with the Czech winning in the quarterfinals in Doha, while Alcaraz got his revenge in the Queen’s final.
With this, he will play his 13th Grand Slam quarterfinal, becoming the youngest player in the Open Era to reach that number, surpassing Björn Borg and Boris Becker.
