All of his belongings had disappeared": Tommy Paul and the mishap that disrupted his 2025 season

Brad Stine, Tommy Paul's coach, details his protégé's "strange" 2025 season with an unusual incident in Madrid as the starting point.
Long hampered by a foot injury, Tommy Paul is experiencing a mixed year. Although he reached his career-best ranking in June (8th place), the American hasn't strung together three consecutive wins since Roland-Garros.
The blame lies with the replacement of his orthotic insoles, which were stolen during the Madrid tournament. This situation was explained by his coach Brad Stine on the Inside-In podcast:
"We took a day off (after Paul's loss to Draper in Madrid) and didn't go to the court at all. The next day, we planned to train before leaving for Rome.
When we arrived at the court, all of his belongings from his locker had disappeared, including his shoes and orthotic insoles."
A replacement of insoles that might seem trivial, but which caused the American severe pain in his left foot. Struggling on the court as early as Roland-Garros, he eventually took matters into his own hands at the beginning of the North American tour.
"He wore a boot for ten days, received an injection to reduce swelling and everything else. Then he started hitting balls again, but that's why he missed some tournaments this summer," Stine specified, before concluding: "The season has been strange. Good in some aspects, bad in others.
