Amritraj decides: "By swapping rackets, the legends of the 70s-80s would beat the Big 3"

Imagine a mythical duel between Borg, McEnroe, Connors and the Big 3. For Vijay Amritraj, the legends of yesterday would still have the last word... but under a rather surprising condition.

Former player Vijay Amritraj gave an interview this week to the website Clay, in which he reflects on his career, his relationship with the champions of the time (Borg, Connors, McEnroe) but also the recent changes made by the ATP regarding the calendar.

Discussing the topic of generations, Amritraj amused himself by imagining a showdown between the Big 3 and the trio Borg–McEnroe–Connors.

"The legends of the 70s-80s would win"

"You can never compare generations. Because any champion from a past era would have been a champion in the current era. But just for fun, it would be interesting to see McEnroe play against Nadal, with Nadal using McEnroe's racket and McEnroe using Nadal's.

If they swapped rackets, McEnroe would win. The same goes for Borg against Federer, or Connors facing Djokovic. The legends of the 70s-80s would win this duel 3-0. By swapping rackets!"

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
