Andreescu Wins Her First Match of the Year in Madrid

Bianca Andreescu, recently returned to competition, cleared the first round of the WTA 1000 in Madrid by defeating McCartney Kessler, ranked 43rd in the world, in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) after 1 hour and 14 minutes of play.

The Canadian thus secured her first victory of the 2025 season, following a first-round exit in Rouen a week ago. She had been forced to delay the start of her season due to an appendicitis surgery.

In the next round, the 2019 US Open champion will face a much tougher challenge, as she is set to meet Elena Rybakina on the other side of the net.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
