A Domination That Stifles the Tour: Ruud Speaks Unfiltered

On the eve of the UTS "Grand Finale," Casper Ruud put into words what a large part of the Top 20 players are feeling.

The retirement of the Big 3—Federer, Nadal, Djokovic—was supposed to usher in an era of diversity, an explosion of new Grand Slam winners. But none of that has happened.

"It hasn't happened... because of those two," he admits.

"It's a Bit Annoying But You Have to Accept It": Ruud Between Frustration and Admiration

But the most striking line from the interview remains this one:

"It was really impressive and also a bit annoying to see how good they've become."

Annoying because Ruud, a Grand Slam finalist, sees his own progress immediately crushed by two phenomena who are even faster, even stronger, even more complete.

Annoying because even when he plays his best tennis, the feeling persists: against Sinner and Alcaraz, it's not enough.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
