At 31, Bouchard announces her retirement and will play her final tournament in Montreal

Eugenie Bouchard made her return to the tennis courts last week at the WTA 125 in Newport, where she was defeated in the first round by Anna Sinclair Rogers.
This return to competition will be short-lived, as the 31-year-old player announced this Wednesday that she will retire from professional tennis after the WTA 1000 in Montreal. She will receive a wildcard to enter the main draw directly.
A Wimbledon finalist in 2014, a BJK Cup winner with Canada in 2023, and ranked world No. 5 at her peak, Bouchard revealed her decision with the following words:
"You’ll know when the time is right. For me, it’s now. Ending where it all began: Montreal."
For context, the Canadian had put down her tennis rackets in 2024 to pursue a professional pickleball career.
