At Roland Garros, Rublev reaches the third round with ease

At Roland Garros, Rublev reaches the third round with ease

Andrey Rublev held his nerve on Wednesday. Relying on an efficient serve and some very dry shots, he had no trouble in disposing of an under-strength Pedro Martinez (6-3, 6-4, 6-3).

Against a solid Spanish opponent (13 unforced errors), the Russian never wavered. Confident, he distributed the game superbly, forcing his opponent to give up more and more ground. Starting his match with his foot to the floor, he never let go of his prey, stringing together winners and giving away very few points (56 winners, 24 unforced errors, 10 aces).

Without ever really having been in danger in this match, the world number 6 reassured himself after a tricky first round. For a place in the last 16, he will face the winner of the match between Arnaldi and Muller.
