At the beginning of the third set, I started feeling pain in my left leg," Musetti reflects on his defeat against Alcaraz

Musetti ended his outstanding clay-court season with an unfortunate retirement during his match against Alcaraz at Roland-Garros. Having reached the semifinals of every tournament he played on clay in 2025, the Italian proved he is a solidified top-10 player. Speaking to the press, he looked back on his loss at Porte d'Auteuil:
"Honestly, I’m very sad and disappointed with how it ended, but it was still a great match. At the start of the third set, while serving, I began feeling pain in my left leg, which got worse as time went on. Tomorrow, I’ll undergo tests and assess the situation. We both started very well.
I had to play at my absolute best to try and keep up with him. I took a big step forward in my game—I felt closer to his level. I maintained a high standard for two hours, so I’m happy. I feel like I had my chances today, even coming close to a two-set lead, but obviously, Carlos was playing incredibly well.
Alcaraz is one of the toughest challenges in our sport right now. It’s not easy for a one-handed backhand player to face Carlos or Jannik. I knew I’d probably have to play the best match of my career to win. I think I still did a great job. I was there physically, technically, and mentally. Then, I didn’t have the chance to keep playing with this issue. It was an unfortunate situation.
