At Wimbledon, Rybakina is the favourite to win: "I don't like it".
More than ever, Elena Rybakina is asserting herself as the number 1 contender for the Wimbledon title this Saturday.
Indeed, after the withdrawal of Aryna Sabalenka (at the start of the tournament) and the eliminations of Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, the Kazakh seems to be the best equipped to win this Wimbledon 2024.
Already crowned champion in London 2022, Rybakina is stepping on the competition. With the exception of an average second round in which she conceded a set, the world number 4 largely dominated her opponents.
Facing Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals, she once again strolled to victory in just 1 hour (6-3, 6-2).
When asked about this status, the 25-year-old explained that she didn't really like it: "I don't like it either, to be honest (laughs). I have an aggressive style of play. I've got a huge serve. That's a big advantage.
Of course, I want to go all the way. But I'm taking it match by match. For now, I'm happy with the way I'm playing, looking forward to the next match. It won't be easy."
