This Wednesday, Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina go head-to-head on Wimbledon's grass court for a place in the tournament's semi-finals.

Here's a preview of the 3rd women's quarter-final at Wimbledon.

- State of play -

On paper, this match looks very lopsided, especially given the gap in the rankings between the two players. However, the match promises to be tougher than it looks, and Svitolina could well make things difficult for the world number 4.

On the other hand, Elena Rybakina is now the favourite to win the title in London. Since the elimination of Swiatek and Gauff, the Kazakh, who was crowned champion in 2022, already seems to have one hand on the trophy. Despite her exit in Berlin (against Azarenka, 3-1 ab.), the 25-year-old is making rapid progress in London and has all the makings of a formidable contender.

On the other side of the net, it's Elina Svitolina's turn to shine. After not really shining for several weeks, the Ukrainian is back to her best tennis. Now back to her best, the world number 21 magnificently defeated two-time Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur (6-1, 7-6). Undaunted, she humiliated Wang in the Round of 16 on Monday (6-2, 6-1) and is once again shining in London (semi-finalist last year).

- Past encounters -

Here too, it's clear that the game is likely to be more balanced than expected, as the players are currently back-to-back (2-2).

That said, the Kazakh won their only recent match this year, in the Round of 16 at Roland Garros (6-4, 6-3).

The other three meetings took place in 2021 and 2020, and the only grass-court match between the two players was won by the higher-ranked (6-4, 7-6 at Eastbourne 2021).

As a result, Elena Rybakina's psychological advantage may well be greater.

- TT's prediction -

Of course, Rybakina should win. That said, nothing will be easy and her opponent is likely to take her through a long and perhaps difficult match.

So, as part of our partnership with Vbet.fr, the most interesting and realistic bet on this match seems to be to bet on Rybakina winning in 3 sets (3.09.

As a reminder, if you don't yet have a Vbet.fr account, you can create one and place your first bet with complete peace of mind. If you don't win, you'll be refunded up to €100 in play credits (see full details).

What's more, if you refer a friend, you earn €50 in game credits and your friend earns €25 (see all details).

Sports betting is far from an exact science, so take care to remain reasonable in your bets to keep it all a pleasure. And for those under 18, no sports betting!

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
