Ostapenko continues to impress: "I'm playing pretty well".
Jelena Ostapenko is one of those players whose tennis is, on the whole, highly unpredictable. Capable of making numerous unforced errors, the Latvian can also dominate anyone on a good day.
And so far, Ostapenko is treading water at Wimbledon. With a very aggressive game plan, the 27-year-old has never doubted her ability and is racking up a string of really big wins. First humiliating a Tomljanovic who had just made a final on the surface (6-1, 6-2), she then went on to crush Snigur (6-3, 6-0) and Pera (6-1, 6-3). Having qualified for the last 16, she didn't have much more trouble against a confident Putintseva, who had just eliminated Iga Swiatek (6-2, 6-3).
When questioned by the press, she was all smiles and delighted with her current performance: "This is one of my favourite tournaments. I won it as a junior. I have great memories. We're in a different place now. But I'm just really happy with my performance.
I appreciate my time here so much. Thanks guys. I love it here. My level is really good in the decisive moments.
And I just try to play my game and be aggressive in those decisive moments. I think that's the key. I think so far, I'm playing pretty well (smile)."
