While trailing 4-1 in the third set, Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi was forced to retire due to a left leg injury during the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 in Brussels.
After defeating his compatriot Royer (7-6, 4-6, 6-1) in the previous round, Bonzi had hoped to continue his momentum. However, the match unfolded differently.
Meanwhile, Jiri Lehecka, last year's unfortunate finalist in Belgium, did not have to push to the limit this time, though nothing came easily.
The Czech player's journey continues as he will face the winner of the match between Lorenzo Musetti and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the semifinals.
