The 2025 tennis season is drawing to a close and Turin is hosting the ATP Finals, the unmissable event where the world's top eight players compete. Here, then, are the 4 major stakes of this 2025 edition.

1 - The Battle for the Number 1 Spot: Alcaraz vs Sinner

It is rare for a Masters to be played with the world number one ranking on the line. And Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are at the center of this struggle. The Italian seems to be the slight favorite, but the Spaniard, seeking revenge, will be determined to erase the current doubts surrounding his indoor game.

2 - Will Djokovic Participate in the Masters for the 17th Time?

Novak Djokovic, despite a solid season but without a major title, has not yet announced his participation in the Turin event. But if he decides to go, he could equal the 17 participations of his former rival Roger Federer. Furthermore, his indoor experience would obviously be a real asset.

Nevertheless, as before every tournament this season, questions are swirling about his ability to maintain the physical pace against the very best on the tour. Finally, a potential withdrawal could open a spot for the two players currently battling for their place: Musetti and Auger-Aliassime.

3 - Can Zverev Save His Season?

After inconsistent performances, the German still hopes to secure another major title (the last one being in Paris in 2024). While Zverev is familiar with the format (winner in 2018 and 2021), he will, as in every tournament for the past two years, have to face the two players he struggles against: Alcaraz and Sinner.

4 - Can Fritz and Shelton Create an Upset?

Taylor Fritz, last year's finalist, and Ben Shelton are awaited by an entire nation to pick up the torch from Andy Roddick and take the lead in world tennis. While, like the majority of their tour colleagues, they often run into Sinner and Alcaraz, perhaps they will be the source of a surprise in Turin.

It now remains to be seen which player will claim the 2025 edition of the prestigious "Tournament of Champions."

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
