ATP Rome Draw: Sinner's Return, a Potential Draper-Alcaraz Quarterfinal
The Rome Masters 1000 draw was unveiled this Monday. It is highlighted by the significant return of Jannik Sinner after a 3-month suspension.
Absent since his victory at the Australian Open, he benefits from a bye in the first round and will face the winner of the match between Mariano Navone and Federico Cina.
His path to the final could be challenging with potential opponents like Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round, Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 16, Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals, and Taylor Fritz in the semifinals.
As for Carlos Alcaraz, the tournament's second seed, he will face Jan-Lennard Struff or Yoshihito Nishioka in his opening match.
He could continue against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, then Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16, potentially Jack Draper or Holger Rune in the quarterfinals, and Alexander Zverev or Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals.
The hypothetical quarterfinal matchups are Sinner-Ruud, Fritz-De Minaur, Draper-Alcaraz, and Musetti-Zverev.
On the French side, Hugo Gaston will face Nicolas Jarry, last year's finalist in Rome, who will have to defend more than half of his ATP points.
Arthur Rinderknech will go up against Matteo Gigante, Benjamin Bonzi against Quentin Halys, Corentin Moutet against Rinky Hijikata, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard against Jordan Thompson, and Alexander Müller against Jiri Lehecka.
