Auger-Aliassime: "It's hard to accept".
Félix Auger-Aliassime came back down to earth in his US Open opener.
After some reassuring results, including 4th place at the Paris Olympics, the Canadian lost all composure in his duel with 18-year-old Jakub Mensik, the revelation of the season (6-2, 6-4, 6-2).
Beaten soundly, Auger-Aliassime was questioned about his disappointing performance. Logically distraught, he declared: "What went wrong today? Everything.
It's hard to accept because the week of preparation was good. Everything was looking good.
It's just that it's so unexpected. I didn't panic, but I couldn't find a way to feel good on the pitch."
